Countdown!

Less than 2 weeks to the ball now, so have been rather busy!  We need final numbers by tomorrow so if anyone was thinking about buying a ticket then you need to do it now!  (Link on right of blog)

Things are all coming together now and we just have the final details to take care of now.  In addition to the ball tickets, I have still been selling some raffle tickets for the drinks hamper,  I sold the mini canvases I painted of the movie stars to add to the total, and mum has been making and selling her famous tablet like it's going out of fashion!!    Although we have not sold as many tickets as the last ball, hopefully it will all add up to give a good donation for the CF unit!

In between the organising I have of course been going to work (such an inconvenience when you are busy!) and Andrew has had quite a few trips down south with his work, meeting with other groups in his company, so we have both been kept busy.  It's great to be healthy enough to do all these things and for Andrew to be able to go away with work and not worry about me.

I am going to be doing some locum sessions in Old Age psychiatry from oct to december, to help cover  paternity leave.   It's with a consultant I have worked for before, so I think it will be really interesting to do old age and general adult psychiatry side by side and see which I prefer!  I have enjoyed both jobs.  Old age tends to be more pleasant in some ways, but general adult certainly has a lot of variety.  Sometimes I think you can be really influenced by how well you get on with workmates also and I do get on well with everyone at work which makes it much easier.  It will mean I am doing 4 days for that 3 months but I think that should be ok for a short period, although I do expect to feel much more tired.  I am up for the challenge though!

We were at a wedding party last night with was great.  Alistair and Caroline got married in America earlier this year (Caroline is from Savannah) but they decided to have a party for the friends and family in Scotland.  It was a great night with a ceilidh - I am really quite sore today after all the flinging around of arms and legs, and Andrew has bruised ribs after getting an elbow in the side (not mine I would like to add).  All to be expected when there is Scottish dancing!

So, this week will probably be rather busy too.  We are meeting at hotel this week to give them numbers and table plans.  Then next weekend Team Glasgow are running an organ donor desk at a football charity event our good friend Anders is organising in aid of LLTGL.  I will give Anders a wee shout here as he has been taken into hospital with a collapsed lung and is organising the event from his hospital bed now!  He will only be allowed out to attend the event but then straight back in.  So please send him so healing thoughts!  It just brings to the fore again why we are raising money for the unit - Anders has already spent weeks (possibly months in fact) on the unit this year alone.

So I will leave you with my final requests:
  •  If people do want tickets for the ball please buy now!  It will be fab!!
  •  If anyone wants raffle tickets for the drinks hamper then drop me an email (or teamglasgow3@gmail.com).
  • We would still like any prizes for raffle or tombola.  We are doing well with this but do like our guests to go home with lots of goodies!
  • If you want mums tablet you better get in touch with her soon -when it's gone it's gone!!
  • I still have 2 mini movie icons paintings left if anyone is interested.  £5 (including the tiny easel)  - measure 10cm x 10cm.
Marlon Brando

Cary Grant

Not a movie star  - but some cute love birds!
