Copenhagen

So, another very busy couple of weekends!!   We were down in Hawick at the end of October for Anne and John's Ruby wedding anniversary.  We had a lovely weekend and enjoyed our champagne lunch :-)

Last weekend we were in Copenhagen, with my friend Claire and her husband Giuseppe.  We had a fab weekend and although it was freezing cold, it was also dry and sunny, so we can't really complain!   We arrived on friday late afternoon and went out to explore.  We found somewhere really nice for dinner, which would have been quite reasonable had I not been left to order the wine....

On way back to hotel we found some trampolines...

On saturday we did the cultured part of visiting a museum in the morning and appearing very interested in a lot of Roman heads before having a lovely lunch in the winter garden.   The afternoon was spent in Tivoli - which is an original fairground in the centre of Copenhagen.   It is normally closed after September but they open it at Halloween and Christmas, all decorated for the season.   The decorations where impressive and as it got dark the park was lit with lots pumpkin lights!  We had a wander, went on the worlds tallest carousel (The star flyer) and bought the most gigantic candy floss I have ever seen.   We had to warm up at regular intervals with irish coffees to prevent frost bite ;-)

Star Flyer ride - it was freezing at the top!!!

On the sunday we went on a canal boat for a tour of the city then missed the last tour bus (at 1pm!!) but got our money back, then decided to walk the length of the city to see the statue of the Little Mermaid.  It was a lovely walk down the pier in the bright crisp sunshine and on the way back we wandered through the Kastallet fort, where there is a lovely military church and windmill.

Stopping for a coffee and I drew a nice pic of the four of us (we did also stick it on that wall behind)

Missed the bus....lets just take some photos

For our final evening we had a fantastic meal at Salt restaurant at our hotel, as this was listed as one of the top places to eat.  It had the advantage that we didn't need to go outside in the cold to get there haha.   We finished off with cocktails in the bar and it was a fab end to the weekend.

Now to get ready for our winter sun holiday in only 9 days...!!!  I am now so glad we didn't go away this summer and saved our holidays until now!
